About SCMS

The Solano County Medical Society (SCMS) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization of physicians from all specialties Founded in 1904, the purpose of this Society is to promote the science and art or medicine, the care and well being of patients, the protection of the public health, and the betterment of the medical profession; to cooperate with organizations of like purpose, and to unite with other similar societies of other counties of the state of California Medical Association (CMA). SCMS is an affiliate of the CMA.

SCMS is governed by a board of directors composed of physicians who practice and/or live in Solano County. We envision SCMS as an organization welcoming all physicians, respecting diverse interests and acting as a unifying force in the community by working to:

• Promote and develop the science and art of medicine and the care and well-being of patients.
• Conserve and protect the health of the public.
• Promote the betterment of the medical profession.
• Cooperate with groups of like purposes.
• Unite with similar organizations in the formation and activities of CMA.

When physicians join SCMS and CMA, they hire a powerful professional staff to protect their practices from legal, legislative and regulatory intrusions. SCMS/CMA membership lets physicians focus on what is important  - their profession and their patients.
